You're Blogging Me!

A friend of mine says the written word is a lost art.  "Nobody writes letters by hand anymore.  I used to get letters all the time.  Now?  An email that I might miss because a unknown logic says it's 'spam'".

"What were the letters about?"

"Oh, you know.  Weather.  Family.  Sickness. Throw in a recipe card every now and then to something that reminds you of homemade dishes that you may - or may not have - eaten growing up.  All homey-like goodness in every loop and line."

"Blogging does the same thing.  Only faster."

"Yes, but you can't delete what you say after you've licked the stamp and put it in a mailbox.  With online blogging and such, you can always go back and edit or erase whatever you meant to say in the first place.  You fool yourself into thinking that you're brilliant when all along you've just bullshitted not only yourself - but your audience, too."

"Why's that?"

"If you said what you meant the first time, there's no need to take it back."

Since I'm hanging on to every word being said, this is a clue to me that next time one of my explanations is regarded as iffy and someone says, "That's such a load of Blog!", I'll know exactly what they mean.

Home Sweet Home - New Apartment Pics So Far

We moved into the new apartment this weekend. I'm exhausted. Mike is fried and the oldest son and his two moving buddies are sore as all get out. Those guys did a fantastic job of getting us moved in. So, here are the new pictures of the apartment so far. I walked the grounds a little bit today but still haven't seen all of the complex. I'll get more pictures tomorrow when I'm out and about. Let me Introduce our movers :) First, there's our son, Big Un
Then there's Ryan
And now Justin
Oh, and their mascot, Memphis
We enter from here (4-lane very busy road)
The Side street - beautiful private homes as well as very nice duplexes!
Welcome!!!
My Desk - Where Genius Happens
Mike's Desk - Where Genius Naturally Lives
We have a fireplace!
And a built-in bookshelf!
The Kitchen - we actually have an ice maker in this refrigerator. Our last place was too cheap to install one. Modern cabinets and countertops and an ISLAND! *sigh of happiness*
The Back Door - sliding glass door (with a screen) leading to a private patio.
The Patio Gate leads to a parking area in the back that is incredibly convenient!
Well, that's all for now, folks! I'll show you the bedrooms later (we made one of the bedrooms into our TV room and the "living room" into our office). The master bedroom is a mess so I'll show it later. Oh! Also in the master bedroom, there's another bath with a shower and a separate utility closet that has our washer/dryer hook-up. I'm telling you, when we get another house of our own, the laundry room is going right there in the bedroom with us. SO CONVENIENT! You guys take care!

To Blog or Not To Blog?

Tulsa is great. We really like it here! Alas, because our jobs are temporary until the end of April, I'll have to concentrate on the job market for a while so the blogs will be at least once a week (hopefully!).

I'm glad you are sticking with me as this blog is relatively new so I'm not entirely sure about what to write. But I will let you in on some of my activities:

1. I'm crocheting an Angry Bird Hat. I might make 2.
2. Beefing/revising resumes for Mike and myself.
3. Writing my book one scene at a time. I think I have enough to put a couple of chapters together. (The book is part of a 4-book series)
4. I'm on FB a lot - just sayin
5. Menu Planning - Mike and Big Un are going to have to suck it up and eat what I make. Can you say "serious guinea pigs"?

What are you working on? Any plans for the new year? If you break your resolution, don't sweat it. Life's too short. Move onwards and upwards.

Laters! We all love you very much and can't wait to be back in your area to give a shout and meet up for dinner and a movie :)
